“TANZNEID” is the seventh studio album by German electronic metalcore band Electric Callboy, released on August 7, 2026, via Century Media Records. The album title translates from German as “Dance Envy.”
The creation of TANZNEID (2026) and the period between the releases of TEKKNO (2022) and TANZNEID marked one of the most significant chapters in Electric Callboy’s recent history. During this time, the band cemented its status as one of the world’s leading electronicore acts while also undergoing major lineup and creative changes.
In April 2025, Electric Callboy officially announced that David Friedrich, who had been the band’s drummer since 2012, was leaving to “follow his own path and try something new.” The band emphasized that the split was entirely amicable, thanking David for thousands of unforgettable moments on stage, countless tours, and his invaluable contribution to the band’s success.
For live performances, touring, and parts of the studio recording process, the band enlisted session musicians. Most notably, renowned drummer Frank Zummo of Sum 41 performed on the album’s title track, TANZNEID. The chemistry between the musicians proved to be exceptional, and Frank later appeared on the re-recorded version of “Still Waiting”—a cover of his own band’s classic song—contributing both to the recording and the accompanying music video. For the time being, Electric Callboy continue to operate as an official five-piece lineup while utilizing Frank as a high-profile session drummer for both studio recordings and live performances.
As with the band’s previous albums, the core production team consisted primarily of the band members themselves:
- Daniel Haniß, Pascal Schillo, Kevin Ratajczak, and Nico Sallach served as the album’s principal songwriters, lyricists, and producers.
- The visual concept, music videos, and multimedia content were once again handled by Schillobros, the production company founded by guitarist Pascal Schillo.
Key tracks and collaborations featured on TANZNEID include:
- “RATATATA” (feat. BABYMETAL): A high-profile international collaboration with the Japanese kawaii metal band. The song blends crushing breakdowns, electronicore, Japanese idol vocals, and Eastern-inspired melodies. It became a viral hit, accumulating tens of millions of streams and earning placement on several official soundtracks, including WWE 2K25.
- “Let The Good Times Roll” (feat. The Offspring): One of the album’s most unexpected collaborations, featuring punk rock veterans The Offspring. Conceived as a high-energy electronic punk anthem, the track serves as both a spiritual sequel and a playful response to The Offspring’s hit “Let The Bad Times Roll.”
- “Hypercharged” (Brawl Stars collaboration): A fast-paced anthem created in partnership with Supercell’s mobile game Brawl Stars, combining explosive nu metal and electronic elements with an animated music video inspired by the game’s distinctive visual style.
- “Still Waiting” (feat. Frank Zummo): A powerful reinterpretation of Sum 41’s iconic pop-punk classic. Electric Callboy transformed the song into their trademark style, complete with heavy riffs, crushing breakdowns, club-inspired synthesizers, and live drums performed by Frank Zummo himself.
- “Elevator Operator” and “TANZNEID”: The title track and “Elevator Operator” embody Electric Callboy’s signature party-metal formula, following in the footsteps of fan favorites such as “Pump It” and “We Got The Moves,” complete with humorous concept videos, exaggerated comedy, and infectious Eurodance melodies.
- “Revery”: Standing apart from the rest of the album, this darker, more serious, and atmospheric composition abandons the band’s trademark humor to showcase a more emotional and introspective side of Electric Callboy.
- “Heartclub”: One of the album’s heaviest exclusive tracks, delivering uncompromising metalcore filled with relentless aggression and bone-crushing breakdowns.
The album’s defining characteristics include:
- Refining the signature fusion: An even deeper blend of heavy metalcore riffs, crushing breakdowns, and club-oriented rhythms, including Eurodance, synth-pop, and ’90s happy hardcore influences.
- Humor and self-awareness: The band continues to embrace its trademark over-the-top style and visual identity, featuring colorful outfits, wigs, and deliberately absurd park-set music videos.
- Built for the live stage: Most of the songs were written with festival crowds and large-scale arena performances in mind.
The band described TANZNEID as its most ambitious album to date. While preserving Electric Callboy’s trademark sense of humor, the record seamlessly combines crushing metalcore breakdowns, nostalgic EDM influences from the 1990s and 2000s, and irresistibly catchy pop choruses.
