The double single “Prepare for War / The Big Snit” is one of the most ambitious and crucial parts of Devin Townsend’s grand rock opera titled The Moth.
The tracks were officially released in May 2026 via InsideOut Music, taking the 17th and 18th spots on the album’s massive 24-track listing.
Townsend himself emphasizes that this release shouldn’t be approached as ordinary songs—it is a true cinematic experience.
“This track essentially acts as a ‘soundtrack to an unmade movie’… If you think of it simply as a ‘song’, it probably won’t work. But if you view it as a cinematic ‘experience’ representing the final moments before ‘fundamental changes’, it’s quite an adventure.” — Devin Townsend
The live recording from Groningen is an official part of the album’s deluxe edition. The full concert film, The Moth – The War (Live), is available on Blu-ray in a limited artbook edition (Ltd Deluxe 3CD+Blu-ray Artbook), where the third CD is entirely dedicated to this historic live performance of the raw, original opera for the fans..
