Queens of the Stone Age Easy Street

Easy Street” is a single by the American rock band Queens of the Stone Age featuring country singer Nikki Lane, released on July 14, 2026, on Matador Records. It marks the band’s first new material since the 2023 album In Times New Roman….

Fans first heard the track live in the fall of 2025 during the acoustic Catacombs tour, and since then, the studio version became one of the most anticipated releases among QOTSA fans.

Josh Homme and bassist Michael Shuman produced the track, deliberately avoiding a click track and flawless polish. Minor mistakes, tempo fluctuations, and out-of-sync handclaps were left in the recording to give the song a “living, human breath.”

Melodically, the track combines psychedelic synths, acoustic guitar, and a vocal duet between Homme and Nikki Lane, whose raspy, “gravelly” voice contrasts with Josh’s smooth vocals.

Homme described the concept of the song like this: “It’s like getting hit in the funny bone — it’s funny because it hurts, and it hurts because it’s funny. The song, like your life, is made up of mistakes, and it’s those imperfections that make it real.”

The music video was directed by Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse, based on an idea and script by Josh Homme himself.

The video opens with a beaten and bloody Josh Homme trying to escape a crazy pursuing mob. Among the pursuers are QOTSA members in funny costumes (a Juggalo with face paint, a bad Santa Claus, a leather gear fan, and a dapper cowboy with a miniature horse), as well as bikers, cheerleaders, and Vegas showgirls. Despite the chaotic and absurd chase in the spirit of a “suburban nightmare,” a surprising plot twist in the middle of the video completely changes the context of everything happening.

As is often the case with QOTSA, some purists who expected heavy, dirty stoner rock riffs in the style of Rated R deemed the track too soft or “pop-oriented.” However, the majority received it calmly, remembering that the song was born during the acoustic Catacombs tour.

The fan community embraced “Easy Street” as one of the band’s most energetic, heartfelt, and funniest releases in recent years, and the video itself was instantly turned into memes across Reddit and Instagram rock communities.

“The best part about new QOTSA music is that no matter what you’re expecting, you’re nearly always wrong.” (YouTube comment)
