“Legacy” is the tenth studio album by American heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch, released digitally on July 31, 2026, via Better Noise Music (the CD edition is scheduled for release on September 18, 2026). The record marks a significant milestone for the band, as its release coincides with the 20th anniversary of their career. The musicians set out to combine the aggression of their early work with a more modern sound while staying true to the band’s signature style.
The digital release took place exactly 19 years to the day after the band’s debut album, The Way of the Fist, was released on July 31, 2007.
This is the band’s first studio album since their debut not to feature producer Kevin Churko. Production duties were handled entirely by Drew Fulk, best known for his work with Motionless in White, Knocked Loose, and Ice Nine Kills.
With a runtime of 36 minutes and 43 seconds, Legacy is the shortest full-length album in Five Finger Death Punch’s discography. The material was written over the course of approximately three years, with the final tracklist selected from nearly 30 completed songs.
The lead single, “Eye of the Storm“, topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, becoming the band’s 18th No. 1 hit on the chart and extending their all-time record for the most consecutive No. 1 singles in the chart’s 45-year history.
The title “De Oppresso Liber” is the official motto of the United States Army Special Forces (the Green Berets) and translates from Latin as “To Free the Oppressed.” According to Zoltan Bathory, the song represents the willingness to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
According to founder and guitarist Zoltan Bathory, if someone asked him to choose a single album that best captures the essence and energy of Five Finger Death Punch over the past two decades, it would be Legacy:
“This is our tenth studio album and the band’s twentieth anniversary, so we knew we had to create something special. What excites me most is that we brought back the energy of our early years—the intensity, aggression, and drive—while also exploring new territory.”
Bathory also highlighted “Nails In The Coffin“, “Eye Of The Storm“, and “De Oppresso Liber” as some of the key tracks that best represent the album.
Early listener reactions following the album’s release were largely positive. Many fans noted that Legacy sounds heavier and more inspired than several of the band’s previous releases, although opinions were divided regarding the album artwork and its relatively short runtime.
